The Moon Child Bday Bash at Outlook Festival

SO as I'm sure all of you guyz know... The Moon Child hit up Outlook Festival to celebrate our 2nd birthday!!! 

We had an absolute ball - everything about the festival is just wikid wikid... 

For a starters, the time and effort the crew put into the decor of Outlook is insane! This year had such a lovely home feel to it.. it was amazin to be back. 

Lets talk about the music... hokaaay so as we mentioned before... so SO spoilt for choice! We saw so many sick artists including Kano, Zed Bias, Levelz, Stormzy, Mungo's Hi Fi and more. You can just tell that the artists are having just as much fun as you are. It really is such a good vibes place 2 b. 

And if u want a bit of down time to just chill n relax, the beach is perfect. Throughout the day you can sunbathe, listen to a bit of reggae n even have a dance if you wanna. 

We highly suggest you join us in the Outlook Darnce next year and come n celebrate our 3rd birthday with us!

The Moon Child X Mika Francis aka Wild Daze

It's time for the third in the series of The Moon Child's interviews with boss gyallys in the creative industry and it is our absolute pleasure to introduce you to the most incredible super swaggin fyah ball that is MIKA FRANCIS BABY.

We have been on an incredible journey with Mika, this fine lady has supported The Moon Child since the beginning. Her aura and positivity give sooooo many young people courage and a lil bit of fire in their hearts to be true to themselves.

We spoke to Mika about the inspiration behind "Wild Daze", her personal style and a lil bit of advice for y'all, so without further a due... Mika Francis everybody xxxxxx


What inspired you to start blogging?

Vlogging was always a spin off from my original fashion blog. At the time YouTube was growing as a platform for bloggers to create new and exciting content and actually interact with followers! I was always a media geek at school and so I just naturally found that way of creating content more enjoyable long term. So in the end I decided to solely focus on YouTube and thus Wild Daze was born!

Where did the name “Wild Daze” come from?

When I changed the name of the channel to Wild Daze, it was a shift out of the label of being a 'fashion' or 'beauty' youtuber. The old name was related to personal style and as interests changed and i started to grow spiritually, I decided to come up with a name that gave me freedom to make the channel about anything and everything I wanted it to be! I wanted my channel to be a gateway between the beauty and fashion side of youtube into a world of topics/content less exposed to our generation; the importance of travel and philosophy, veganism and mental health. I think the name Wild Daze describes my relationship with this beautiful world and the beauty of having a voice that is heard by so many people!

How would you describe the Wild Daze vibe?

It's all about journeying through life and understanding the beauty of ourselves and our passions and those of everyone around us!

What festiiieees are you attending this Summer?

Oh my...Lost Village, Gottwood, Hideout, Bennicassim, Secret Garden Party, Boomtown, V-fest, Bestival and potentially more....it's been a wild summer!!

All the festival glitter has given me LYF this summer! And I love the new sheer dragon oriental top!!!!! To dieee for!

AND FINALLY!!! What advice would you give to individuals just starting out in the blogger//vlogger world?

Be patient and be yourself. Your originality is what should make your content special and if you never give that up, you might be lucky enough to never feel like your 'job' is work!

Sooooo in exactly 3 weeks The Moon Child is heading to Croatia for Outlook Festival to celebrate TURNING 2 BABY! WE'RE 2 YEARS OLD!!!!

This Summer The Moon Child is catching up with our fave boss gals in the creative industry and the second in our series is an interview with the swaggy fire ball herself... BETSY JOHNSON!!!

We have loved Betsy ever since she came into our lives right at the beginning of our journey. We had just made an Instagram for our Depop shop (the platform The Moon Child originated on) and Betsy fell in love with our Sun and Moon candles... we got chatting and now she is one of our fave ever moon children she has done so much for us and we love her xxxxx

anyway enough of the soppyness... LETS GET ON WITH IT!

How would you describe yourself and your personal style?

Im still sort of figuring out myself, aren't we all! But id say I am a social creature, I love people especially people who just get 'it'; in regards to my style id say I'm a tomboy, with a guilty pleasure for all things 90s swagathon. 

What inspired you to start blogging // vlogging?

I was pushed into blogging after a few people recommend I give it ago around April 2015 and its the best thing I've ever done, its opened so many doors to so many opportunities and most of all friendships! Its just a good way to explore your creativity and personal style aswell as connecting with people which in most cases you wouldn't be acquainted with.

What is the story behind choosing the name “Photoshop Ugly” behind your channel?

When I started my blog, I wanted a cool name, because Betsey Johnson is a famous designer so I couldn't really use it to brand myself. Ive always been quite anti photoshopping and a true believer that beauty comes from within you and natural beauty is always the purest, so the name popped into mind!

How would you describe the content of your channel?

Im still sort of finding my feet with youtube, I've only been making content the past 6-7 months, but so far I'm really enjoying creating after movies for all my travel excursions; lookbooks and advice videos. I just really love recording memories and feelings and being able to recreate an experience in a video that myself and whoever I shared them with can look back on; thats so amazing.

What can we expect from Photoshop Ugly in the near future?

A lot more youtube content! I am all kitted out and got a lot more travel adventures and video ideas so more content will be up on there pretty much weekly!! Im finding youtube a lot more fun than blogging!

Anyyy exciting plans throughout the Summer?

Well I've been all over the place so far! But I have a few more festivals lined up and hopefully another trip to Asia in September but we will see how it rolls out. 

Whats yo favourite item from The Moon Child collection?

I just love all the glitterrrrrrrr! It was put to good use at hideout and will be seeing a lot more festivals over the summer! 

AAAANNDDD FINALLY!! What advice would you give to somebody starting out as a blogger // vlogger?? 

Don't expect everything to come at once. Be patience and create content you are passionate about and believe in, no matter how many likes it gets. Not everyone is going to like you, your style or your opinions, but some people will, don't take it to heart. 

Betsy has just released her clothing label named Freckled Ace << (click that link to be blown away) It is full of just badass garments that make you feel empowered. She has taken the world by storm with her no bullshit attitude to social media and she has inspired so many people, including us.

The Moon Child takes Boomtown Fair

In August The Moon Child is hittin up Boomtown Fair for a weekend of glitter fuelled fun, music and madness.

For all of y'all wondering what Boomtown is like, imagine dreaming about this village in the middle of no where that brings you all you have ever looked for in a party. There is something for everyone! You have City districts which basically gives so much choice! The attention to detail is incredible too... you will just be blown away by all of the cool things you come across when walking through the area.

You can get diggy down to some bassline, garage, DnB and so much more in Sector 6 with the likes of Ms. Dynamite, TQD and So Solid Crew playing...

If you're into more of the wikid wikid jungle then Lion's Den is bringing you Congo Natty n crew this year as well as veterans of dub, reggae and ska such as Madness, Fat Freddy's Drop and the King of Reggae's son himself... Damian Marley.

If u wanna throw some shapes to tech n house then VAMOS is the place to be... Ya got Jackmaster ( <3 ) playing there as well as ya gal B. Traits, Skream, Mele and more.

We also highly recommend  Tribe of Frog but we can't really describe it... you just need to experience it...

Well... We first mentioned it at around Christmas and now it has finally happened! We have launched our California Dreamin' Vintage collection as part of our Summer of Love campaign.
